I'm a naturalist and an artist at heart, more drawn to the cow in cowgirl than any stereotype. I grew up in West Marin, right on the ocean, drawing for hours with the wind in my hair and nature's bounty all around me. We lived near a ranch, and I'd walk past a herd of cows most days, sometimes they'd follow me right along the fence line. I think that's where my real appreciation for cows started.

I've also lived in rural New Hampshire for eight years and in the UK for almost five. The UK is where I picked up my sense of humor, and learned not to take everything quite so personally. I'm a rural girl through and through, just not the kind people usually picture.

Cowgirl Crafty's name came from a brainstorming session with my daughter that felt more like mad-scientist alchemy than business planning, we were giddy, and the name arrived almost like magic. Cow, because quilters are some of the most refreshingly unpretentious people I know, more interested in life than chasing pretension, capable hands over polished appearances, and that's exactly the kind of natural, unbothered confidence the name is meant to celebrate. Girl, because we get to be exactly that, on our own terms. And Crafty, because craft takes real skill: hand, mind, patience, and more problem-solving than it gets credit for. Cowgirl Crafty is a family-rooted business at heart, and their support has made so much of this possible.

This next chapter is slower, more intentional. The business is still settling in, the product lineup is being built out in phases, and I'm publishing new patterns as they're ready rather than rushing them out. You'll still find me at quilt shows with my pop-up shop, that part hasn't changed, but the digital side of things is built around something simple: handmade, by a human, by me. #IRL.
